We like to think that we are all intelligent
people who laugh in the face of obvious errors, who know that the Earth
is not flat and that Elvis, sadly, does not "still live."
Yet we are surrounded by errors
and inaccuracies on a daily basis, and not only do we not question them,
we are often a part of the problem, spreading those errors to others.
Nothing better typifies this problem than the online behemoth,
Wikipedia. It is their stated policy to report the "consensus" on every
point, rather than the actual facts or truth. So if enough Wikipedia
users believe it, the Earth will actually be flat again.
Yet, in the immortal words of
Aldous Huxley, "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."
